SEASON 1: Kabenga FC Make History as First-Ever Fit & Fun Oldies Gala Champions
Five teams. Twenty matches. One unbeaten champion. The beginning of a football tradition.
On 3 August 2025, Fit & Fun Complex in Kyaliwajjala became the home of a new football experience as the inaugural Fit & Fun Oldies Gala brought together veteran footballers for a day of competition, fitness, friendship and sporting camaraderie.
Designed for players aged 30 and above, the tournament celebrated the enduring love of football and demonstrated that passion for the beautiful game does not diminish with age.
Five teams took part in the inaugural edition: Kabenga FC, R. Home Boyz, Aboojjo FC, Bowman FC and Old Monks United. The competition adopted a straightforward round-robin league format, with every team facing the other four. There were no knockout stages or cup final. The overall champion would be determined by the final league standings.
And when the dust settled, one team stood above the rest.
KABENGA FC: THE FIRST-EVER CHAMPIONS
Kabenga FC wrote their name into the history books with a flawless campaign, winning all four matches to finish top of the standings with the maximum 12 points.
Their attacking strength was evident throughout the competition. They scored 12 goals while conceding only four, finishing with an impressive goal difference of +8.
It was a statement of consistency, teamwork and clinical finishing that earned them the distinction of becoming the inaugural Fit & Fun Oldies Gala champions.
R. Home Boyz finished second with nine points, having won three of their four matches. Aboojjo FC, Bowman FC and Old Monks United completed the five-team standings, each collecting three points.

MORE THAN JUST A FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
The Oldies Gala was founded on a simple but powerful idea: football should remain part of life long after the traditional playing years.
By bringing together players aged 30 and above, the competition created an opportunity for former teammates, friends and football enthusiasts to reconnect through sport.
Beyond the league standings, the tournament encouraged physical fitness, healthy competition, teamwork and social interaction.
It also demonstrated that veteran football can be organised, competitive and entertaining without losing the spirit of friendship that makes the game special.
A FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE
The inaugural Fit & Fun Oldies Gala laid the groundwork for what would become an expanding annual sporting event.
Kabenga FC emerged as the first champions, R. Home Boyz established themselves as strong contenders, and the participating teams helped create a foundation for future editions.
The subsequent expansion to eight teams in Season 2 would take the competition into a new phase, introducing group stages and knockout football.
But the history of the gala will always begin with those five teams and the inaugural campaign of August 2025.
Kabenga FC were the first to conquer the league. The first champions. The team that set the benchmark.
And so began the story of the Fit & Fun Oldies Gala.
